View From the U EPICS
View From the U grew from various attempts to kickstart video production within Student Media and the drive and desire of two students. From a single show to now several shows, the production quality and storytelling of VFTU has always been EPIC. This year, new categories and awards are being offered for students creating content with VFTU to compete in.

VFTU EPICS Categories & Rules
Anyone that participates in VFTU can submit entries for these EPICS, including the creator of the work. Unless indicated otherwise, all entries must be made by March 31, 2021.
Your Title Goes Here
Team Member of the Year
The recipient of this category showed exceeding levels of dedication and enthusiasm to their respective projects. They always make deadlines on time and typically do more than what is expected of them. No entries are needed, this award is chosen by leadership of VFTU.
Best Episode
This category evaluates the production and content quality of a single episode of a segment. Different episodes of the same segment may be submitted as separate entries. Submit a link to a single episode from throughout the school year.
Best Editing
This category evaluates the quality of editing for a video. This could be from any of our four segments. The quality of editing is dictated by how well their edit worked towards the goal of that segment. How well did the Undeclared edit work in terms of being funny and entertaining? How well did the What’s in Your View edit work in terms of connecting with our audience? How well did the 60 Seconds edit work in terms of informing? How well did the Short Sports edit work in terms of informing and portraying a specific sport? And how did the edit work in terms of effectively communicating a story.
Best Performance
This is specifically for our Undeclared Segment. This category evaluates commitment to a role and how funny the performance was. The recipient of this award showed dedication in their costume, lines, and storytelling through acting.
Best Show
This category evaluates the overall production quality, consistency, and content quality of an entire segment. Entries should consist of up to a 10 minute clip of at least 3 different episodes from the current year (10 minutes total, not per episode). You may also submit a link to the recording on Google Drive. Please be sure to set sharing settings appropriately.
Best Host
This is specifically for our Short Sports and What’s In Your View Segment. This category evaluates the presence of an on screen host. This is not a performance as they are presenting themselves as they are to the camera. Do they have good energy? Do they show their personality? How well do they communicate information from a script? How well do they communicate to interviewees?

Best Stupid Thing
Submit the best stupid thing that happened with your team. It can be a quote, a bad headline, a random video, biggest editing goof, or anything that made you laugh. If we get enough entries, we’ll select a winner from each team and have them compete for the overall Best Stupid Thing. (Submit a file, a story, a link – whatever.)
